background

Hi, my name is Erika Moya and I’ve been a 3D generalist since 2014 and a VFX artist since 2020. I’m Mexican born and raised but my home has been in BC, Canada for quite some years now.

My favourite part about being a VFX artist is that it feels like the ultimate generalist since particle systems need shaders, textures, and models, which sometimes do some extra magic through a script/blueprint, and for special occasions these even include a rigged and animated mesh. I just find incredibly satisfying to mix all these skills together to find creative and optimized solutions.

technical skills

I’m a 3D generalist and technical artist. The areas I specialize in are: |

  • 3D modelling
  • Particle Systems
  • Shaders / materials
  • Rigging

I’m also proficient with:

  • Animating
  • Texturing
  • Lighting
  • Scripting (C#, Python, and UE Blueprints)

To say that in a less technical way: I’m a jack of all 3D trades. As a freelancer I worked in making art for video-games (including VR & AR) and 3D printing mostly.

core skills

There’s more to working with someone than the technical skills, so let me tell you other reasons why people seem to like to work with me:

  • I’m independent, but enjoy working with a team to achieve bigger and better things while learning new things along the way and sharing my own knowledge.
  • Finding the most efficient and practical way to obtain the best result is my preferred way to work.
  • I can be quite determined, if I don’t know how to do something that needs to be done I’ll research or ask about it and find out. No shame in admitting I don’t have all the answers.
  • To me, honesty, mutual respect, professionalism, and open communication are important to foster a healthy work environment. Constructive and respectful criticism is important and appreciated; one can only get so far without it.
  • As you can see by my bullet point list, I’m a decently organized person. This also goes for how I organize my files and name assets.

I’m generally not taking commissions anymore but if you have a project you think I could like and you’re interested in working with me feel free to send me an email.
